TRC-2 Driver Adjustable Ignition Timing Retard Control |

TRC-2 Driver Adjustable
Ignition Timing Retard Control:
- For Turbocharged, Supercharged and Nitrous-Oxide
Applications. Adjustable Zero to 20 Degree Ignition Timing
Retard. Retard can be continuous with adjustments made by the
driver based on load conditions or activated by an external input
or boost proportional sensor. These three retard modes are
described in detail below. Whenever retard is commanded, the
retard LED on the timing control module lights up.
- Continuous Retard Mode. The driver makes adjustments based on
engine knock or load conditions. Continuous retard mode is ideal
for heavy loaded RVs and tow vehicles. For racing, the retard
control can be used to tune the vehicle to specific track
conditions.
- Boost Proportional Retard Mode. An optional boost sensor
(Part # 9000-0110)
is required for this mode. When the boost sensor (also known as a
MAP sensor) is connected, the knob on the timing control module
now controls the amount of retard per psi of boost pressure. The
range is zero to 4 degrees retard per psi boost. Boost
proportional retard is required for optimum performance on all
high boost turbo/supercharger applications.
- Switch Activated Retard Mode (On-Demand Retard). In this mode
the retard feature is activated by an external switch or relay.
For nitrous oxide injection applications, a relay is connected to
the nitrous oxide solenoid valve. When the solenoid valve is
activated, the retard input on the Ignition Module. For
turbo/supercharger applications with moderate boost, an adjustable
Hobbs pressure switch can be used to activate the retard when a
certain boost level is reached.
